England Retro Sirts

England remains one of only eight national teams to have ever lifted the World Cup. In 1966 at Wembley Stadium England beat West Germany wearing the iconic red away shirt. The red England football shirt is still a firm favourite with supporters and attempts by the F.A. to change the away kit to grey in 1996 led to a backlash from the media and fans. The grey kit was only worn for three matches before being withdrawn.

The white home shirt has remained largely unchanged since Englands first international game against Scotland in 1872, occasionally extra coloured piping or flashes have been added to the shirt, the 1982 World Cup in Spain saw England add red, white and blue shoulder panels. In recent years the Cross of St. George has also been added to many shirt designs. Occasionally England have needed to play in a third kit, this has mainly been all blue, the 1970 World Cup match against Czechoslovakia in Mexico is one of the few occasions this shirt has been worn in a match.

There are many iconic England shirts, Gazza famously dried his eyes on his shirt after being knocked out of Italia 90, Terry Butcher turn his white shirt red with blood during a a vital World Cup qualifier in Sweden, Bobby Moore swapped his England shirt with Pele after an epic match in the 1970 World Cup. The most iconic of all England shirts will remain the red away shirt worn by Bobby Moore as he lifted the World Cup in Wembley in front of the home crowd. Get the 1966 Shirt ~ Click Here.

    England 1982 Shirt

It’s a great question! Currently we cannot find a supplier of the 1982 England shirt. Personally it’s one of my all time favorites, as it was the first football shirt I ever owned!

I’ve asked a few suppliers if they have plans to remake the shirt, but I’ve not got any feedback yet ;-(

I think it would be a hugely popular shirt with the fans. If you’d like to see the 1982 England shirt re-issued then add a comment here and lets put some pressure on the retro shirt manufacturers like Toffs.com & Kitbag.com to get this classic England shirt remade.

  5. edd says:

Just had a reply from Toffs.com about the ’82 England shirt, Unfortunately they can not produce this shirt, this is due to licensing issues with Umbro and Admiral.

  6. jammo says:

  7. edd says:

You’re not the only one, was hoping the 82 shirt might be my ‘lucky’ shirt for South Africa. The only place I’ve seen them for sale is on Ebay, some are the original shirts from 82 others look like cheap knock offs.

  32. Sadam says:

I’m married with a beautiful little girl and a cute fluffy cat in a reasonable house with a half decent car. However something’s missing….. That missing thing is the ADMIRAL 1982 ENGLAND SHIRT. I will beg, steal or borrow it (alright not steal), but I do really want it in L.

PS. I remember Finefare too, as well as Leo’s, Carfore, Gateway — ah the memories.

  33. Si says:

I know it’s not quite the real thing, but I’ve seen a t-shirt version in Matalan and it’s made by Admiral. Doesn’t have the 3 lions badge on it, but I reckon a pair of sissors and a bit of stitching will have it looking more like the real thing. Has some sort of badge that you can just whack it over though. Nearest thing i’ve seen.

  34. martin says:

I’ve got one of the TOFFS replicas of the 82 shirt. It’s gorgeous. I might be persuaded to part with it seeing as it no longer fits me. I hardly got to wear it after searching high and low for it on Ebay – not to mention paying a lot of money for it!!!

  35. Carl Matthews says:

I’m after the Mexico 86 blue shorts! I’ve looked everywhere! Can anybody help at all??

  36. Chris says:

This is a classic, can’t believe it’s still not available

  37. jonny says:

come on admiral!! or anyone with some front to re produce the england 1982 shirt, a true classic among fans, id love to have seen this kit being worn by the players for this years world cup it still looks gr8 far better than the same old style thats always out now. someone could make alot of money out there if these were re issued. jonny up the villa

  38. hi guys , great site – but i m in desperate need of an england 86 goalie shirt , as worn by peter shilton , any idea where i could get this from??
    lloyd

  39. WaddlesMullet says:

Most of the 1982 shirts on ebay are fake you do get the odd real one come on but they sell for around £100!! If you google ‘retro football shirts’ you can find some sites that specialize in classic but shirts but the 1982 shirt is around £200!!

The problem is umbro hold the sponsorship deal with england so there is no way admiral could ever release 1982 shirt without facing a lawsuit, thats why its easy to pick up any retro umbro england shirt new as umbro can produce them.

  40. trickster says:

Its not a complete replica but for the price it looks ok

    http://www.mandmdirect.com/products-England-Mens-Newland-T-Shirt-White_MM1186.htm

  41. Lutzy says:

OK, The good news is Admiral have launched a replica ’82 shirt….of sorts !! It is in New Look for a bargain £15. To get around the licensing issue of the badge, they have put some god-awful “England v West Germany” celebration badge on. So i went to Sports Soccer & bought the cheapest England Umbro product (a boot bag for £4.99) with a 3 Lions badge on, and sowed it directly over the top of the badge on the shirt – dont take the badge on the shirt off, you’ll have problems. Now i’m no seamstress, but anyone can sow a badge on. It looks the business – and will certainly do for £20 until Admiral make a proper version. I’ll post link up of the New Look shirt…just use your imagination of what it would look like with a 3 Lions badge. If im being totally “nit picky” the material is not the same, plus the original 1982 one had no collars. Oh, Primark does a version too, for £6, but you dont get the “Admiral” badge on the right hand side….although the material is more in keeping with the original, and it has no collars too.

  42. Jay says:

I have been looking for many years for the illusive 1982 Admiral England shirt. I to once owned it as a child (I wish I kept it now). I purchased the above mentioned Tee-Shirt from M&M Direct and agree it is the closest you’re likely to get and £5.99 it’s a steal. Only gripe about it is you may get a few remarks as the single lion used as the badge does resemable the Dutch badge. Beware of the jealous football anoraks out to dampen the party!

  43. Jay says:

One word of warning though… Don’t be conned into an expensive fake that are being sold out there for sometimes £100s. The original neck line was a V-neck going down to a point, the fakes neck line is crossed over and slightly rounded.

  44. goldie says:

SORT IT OUT PLEASE BEST SHIRT EVER

  45. keepthefaith PAFC JC says:

I WANT THE ENGLAND ADMIRAL 76-80 AWAY SHIRT. ANY IDEAS PLEASE

  46. sexyanna says:

I bought one of these for my fella for his birthday but he dumped me before I gave it to him.

I paid 35 quid for it, does anyone want it?

  47. Gilly says:

England 82 shirt needs a come back. Best England kit ever someone sort it out.

  48. Joe da Bush says:

In the early 80′s lots of things in english football were worth remembering.
A personal favorite is Ray Wilkins’ goal against Belgium in the European Championships!
If Admiral remade the shirt (maybe even without the England/FA logo if that is what the problem is about)
I’d buy a few, because I’ve worn the video tape out!
I also liked the Admiral Man U kit too.

  49. adam darroll says:

folk are flogging these on ebay for £150+!!!! scandalous, why someone just doesnt make one with a tiny difference surely thats the loophole???

  50. keepthefaith PAFC JC says:

I also want the ENGLAND 74-80 AWAY reproduced and also the 1982 AWAY shirt. C’mon 70/80s England Admiral shirts thats what we all want!!!
    PAFC KEEPTHEFAITH!
